At 485 feet the summit of Peach Hill is the highest point in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

What is Peach Hill Park?

Peach Hill Park offers walking trails through a former apple orchard, leading to spectacular views in all directions. The 159-acre passive-use and open-space park is jointly managed by the Friends of Peach Hill and the Town of Poughkeepsie Recreation Department. It is located off Salt Point Turnpike in the Town of Poughkeepsie. 

What to see and do on Peach Hill

  • Walk on 3.5 miles of hiking trails. Five different trails explore diverse habitats and ecology, wetlands, traditional agriculture, geology and local history.
  • Enjoy scenic views of the Hudson Valley, the Catskills,
    and the Taconic Hills.
  • Birdwatching.
  • Find some of the hidden geocaches. 
  • Walk your dog.
  • Enjoy the apple blossoms in the spring,
    and pick the apples in the fall.
  • Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter

Sunset Hike - March 12, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.  Sun, Mar 12 – Sunset/Moonrise walk at Peach Hill Park. Leader: Sue Mackson 845 471 9892 Sunset is prior to 7 pm (daylight savings time will have begun) and full moon rise is shortly afterward. Meet 5:45 pm at entrance to Peach Hill which has easy up and down hill trails through an abandoned apple orchard. The site is highest point in Poughkeepsie and affords 360 degree views. We will walk first, then watch. Bring a short poem to share. Flashlight or headlamp will be helpful when leaving, but we will try to walk in the dark.
