Volunteer
Peach Hill Park would not exist without the work of dedicated volunteers. In only a few years these volunteers have accomplished a lot:
- Helped raise public and governmental support for acquiring the park
- Raised money and solicited grants to fund the purchase, development and operation of the park
- Solicited input into future development
- Built trails, overlooks and picnic areas
- Removed accumulated debris
- Run public programs to introduce the park to others
- Pruned apple trees
- Improved habitat
- Solicited donations to support the ongoing costs of park maintenance
The volunteers are organized as the Friends of Peach Hill Park. A ten-member Board of Directors, elected annually by the friends, works with the Town of Poughkeepsie Recreation Department on the day-to-day management of the park.
